Court Booking Rules
#1. Points
Each member will receive 4 court booking points each Sunday (7 am) and 2 points each Wednesday. These points are only for use in the following week. Any unused points expire at the end of each week (Saturday midnight).
- Points are used to book courts on Monday through the following Sunday.
- One hour of court time requires 4 points to secure. Doubles play requires 1 point per player, per hour. Singles play requires 2 points per player, per hour.
- Singles play can only be booked in 1 hour time slots outside of designated prime times. 1 hour maximum per day. Spares are not permitted for singles play.
- Doubles can be booked for 2 hour time slots in non-prime times. A group can only book Doubles for one hour in prime times. 2 hour maximum per day. Spares permitted.
- Courts and court times are subject to availability.
- Court Booking Points are non-transferable and cannot be shared or pooled.
- The use of automated computer programs for court booking is strictly prohibited, violation will result in suspension of all players on court booked in such way.
Court Cancellations
- Cancellations are required. Anyone in the group can cancel the court booking for all participants. Uncancelled courts will draw a $25 fine for all members booked on an unused, uncancelled court.
- Playing privileges will be suspended until the fine is paid.
- Courts cancelled 24 hours prior to use result in a restoration of the points used. Members will lose their points on courts cancelled within the 24 hour window.
#2. Court Availability
- Each day courts are open at 6 am and they are closed for the night at 11 pm.
- Platinum Members can only play Monday to Friday from 8 am until 4 pm inclusive, including sparing.
- Prime Time is Monday – Thursday from 7pm – 9pm.
- Pre-booking is restricted to doubles play only and 1 hour maximum.
- Members have 10 minutes after the hour to occupy their booked court. Failure to claim the court within the 10 minute window forfeits ownership rights to court.
- Universal 10-Minute Rule:
- Eligible players have until 10 minutes past the hour to claim a court from current players on court.
- After the 10-minute window has passed, other players have no rights to occupied courts and may not enter the playing area.
- Courts must be used as booked for (i.e. booked for as singles then max. two players can occupy the court. If booked for doubles then min. three players must occupy the court).
New: Prime Time restrictions do not apply for Same Day online court booking.
#3. Juniors
- Children under 14 years of age shall not be allowed into the club at any time unless accompanied and constantly supervised by an adult.
#4. Guests
- Guests are defined as non-members. No guests are permitted to be on the courts at any time unless specified by the Board of Directors.
- The Board does specify a period over the December Holidays where guests are allowed. Please look for details under that tab (located under the “Club Rules” heading at the top of the main site page) – waivers must be signed and fees paid.
- Any member who plays with a guest outside this parameter will have their membership terminated and will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
#5. Open / Unbooked Court Time: Same-Day Online Walk-On Booking
- Walk-On Bookings:
- Open/unbooked courts become available for walk-on bookings exactly 2 hours before the start time. At exactly 2 hours before an empty court slot; the “Book” icon dynamically changes to a “Bonus Book” icon.This indicates the slot now available for a Walk-on Booking
- No points are required for walk-on bookings.
- 1-hour maximum for both singles and doubles.
- One walk-on booking per member per day.
- Online Booking Required: All play requires an online booking.
- Walk-On Play Without Booking: Prohibited, with a 2-week suspension penalty.
- Ineligible Players: If one player in a group is ineligible for a walk-on booking, the entire group is ineligible.
- Continuing Play: Members can continue playing on an unbooked court after their booking ends until the next booking arrives.
- Early Arrivals: Members can start early on a vacant court but cannot intentionally arrive early to take advantage of unbooked slots.
#6. Balls
- Maximum 6 balls per court when the other court is in use.
- Ball machines are not allowed.
#7. Refunds
- Membership and FOB refunds will only be granted before August 31st of the current membership year.
- Refund will be granted minus a $50.00 non-refundable administrative fee. For a full FOB refund, the FOB must be returned on the same day as member withdrawal date.
- As of November 28, 2018, new fobs cost $25 and are not eligible for a refund upon return.
- Fobs paid for prior to November 28, 2018 will be refunded upon return in accordance with the previous policy.
#8. Clubhouse / Bubble Interior
- Smoking, alcoholic beverages and pets are not allowed inside the clubhouse or inside the bubble.
- The use of tennis racquets and balls inside the clubhouse is forbidden.
- Do not hit balls or racquets against the clubhouse or bubble membrane. These surfaces are not to be used as a backboard.
- Vandalism, defacing, or any other willful damage to the courts, the clubhouse, lights, or any ancillary equipment can result in immediate termination of membership.
#9. Abuse or Defamation
- It is unacceptable for members to abuse, bully, harass, or defame, one another, any Board members, visitors, or the general public, within the vicinity of the Bubble Tennis Club. This will not be tolerated.
- Members are encouraged to submit a complaint to the Board if subject or witness to, any abuse, harassment, or defamation.
#10. Discipline
- Any violation of club rules may result in suspension of membership, and / or expulsion from the Bubble Tennis Club, at the discretion of the Board.
- A second violation will result in termination of membership and no refund will be allocated.
- Notice of suspension shall be in writing, and will be presented by the Board.
- A person who is suspended, or who has had his / her application rejected, may appeal, in writing, to any member of the executive within ten days of the notification of the suspension / rejection.
- An appeal shall be reviewed by the Board where a final decision shall be made. The said decision shall then be presented by the Board, in writing, to the person or persons involved.
- Any suspensions or termination will not result in a refund of fees.
OTHER POLICIES AND RULES
- Bubble Tennis Club reserves the right to adopt other policies and rules from time to time.
- Members shall be required to comply with them when they are published by Bubble Tennis Club or the member receives other notice of them.
AMENDMENTS
- Bubble Tennis Club policies and rules may be amended from time to time at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Suggestions for improvements may be presented to the Board of Directors for discussion.
- Any amendments to Club Rules or the Constitution must be notified to all members within 15 days.
- Members shall be required to comply with changes upon publication on this website and/or through notification by email.
